HOME PAGE // CONVERSATIONS WITH MYSELF

Inner dialogue and the idea of having a ‘conversation with myself’ was something I never really thought about until I came across the statement ‘I think; therefore I am’ by seventeenth-century French philosopher René Descartes. The phrase emulates the idea of how we all have an ‘inner monologue’: having a verbal thought is expressed through ones ‘inner voice’. Constantly as human beings we exert meanings onto everything around us as a way to assert control over our surroundings whilst trying to give our own lives and existence a deeper meaning. For example, when something ‘bad’ happens in life, we immediately see the negative aspects of it rather than how enables us to learn and grow as individuals. I believe we give the ‘voices in our head’ too much control over us and we allow ourselves to get consumed by negative thoughts which slowly starts to shift our perspective on life. In today’s world we are so attached to our devices that we often neglect ‘reality’ and our mental wellbeing- our mind is constantly over working. Something that I’ve come to understand is that when allowing personal development and having a ‘growth mindset’, it allows us to understand and embrace the beauty in our everyday life that we often take for granted.
